Canine Accommodations
|
Country K9 Pet Resort & Spa provides an environment that is fun and safe, where canines can play, romp and receive lots of love and attention. Whether it's one night, one week, one month or more, your canine will enjoy our facilities. Your dog should be at least 4 months old so they are current with the series of required vaccinations. Although we do not place an upper age limit on the dogs we accept for boarding, we ask that you consider your older dog's special needs. Some older dogs have a harder time being away from their home and family and will stress harder than younger dogs. We encourage you to find in-home care for your older dogs for their comfort. If you have an older dog with a medical condition, then boarding with their veterinarian may be the better option. |
There are 112 canine runs with indoor sleeping areas. There are 69 indoor/outdoor runs (A and C wings) and 43 indoor only runs (B wing). Each canine run has a spacious, climate-controlled indoor area as well as a large outdoor area for your dog to stretch and exercise.
Every effort is made to provide as calm an environment as possible but it does get loud in the kennels at times. Dogs bark when something gets their attention or to great other dogs and humans. When someone enters a kennel wing, we are greeted with the dogs barking. Once we leave, the dogs quiet down. Our staff makes a point of speaking to each guest by their name throughout the day. Each individual accommodation area provides an indoor space where your dog’s food, water and bed are located, as well as an outdoor socialization and elimination area. If your dog will not eliminate in their run, we walk your dog several times a day at no charge. All three wings have exhaust fans and floor fans to keep air circulating for a healthier and cooler environment. The indoor and outdoor spaces are separated by a guillotine (doggie) door. Sun shade (90% sun block) is placed on top of the outside portion of the runs during warm weather. All dogs in A and C wings are housed indoors at night via closure of the guillotine door for safety and as required by the county. A wing is heated by propane and cooled with fans. During the colder months, the dogs in A wing are let out to potty and exercise and then return inside to the heated kennels. In B wing, both sides of the runs are entirely inside. Heat is supplied by a heat pump and cooled with fans as well as the air conditioning via the heat pump when the temperatures get high. The inside portion of C wing can be heated via heat pump and is cooled with fans as well as the air conditioning when the temperatures get high. Generally C wing is not used during the winters months. |
Personal Playtime
|
Playtime is an extra service that Country K9 Pet Resort & Spa provides to help make your dogs stay a pleasant one. Playtime provides one-on-one interaction between staff members and your dog(s) and takes place in one of our two outside fenced play yards or in our indoor training room during inclement weather. Playtime sessions may consist of wandering and smelling the scents of the world, running and fetching, just hanging out, or sitting on a lap and being pampered. Playtime sessions are approximately 15 - 30 minutes. |
Cleaning and Sanitation
Each day, every surface in each canine run is cleaned and disinfected using the WYSIWASH Sanitizer, Trifectant or Bleach which are highly effective against dangerous pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, fungi and protozoa. This promotes a healthy and safe environment for your pet. Bedding is washed and dried, if soiled or deemed unsanitary by staff. The air in A & B wings are each purified by two Air Oasis 5000 PRO. The B and C wing heat pump also has a Sanuvox UV air purifier located within the heat pump system.
Feeding
A change in diet can add stress to your canine, possibly resulting in diarrhea or vomiting (frothy and foamy). The best way to prevent this is to bring their regular food. If you choose not to bring your own dog food we will provide a good quality, Lamb and Rice dog food. Grain free canned food and chicken broth is also available for geriatrics or finicky eaters. Our computer keeps track of both regular and special diets, and we feed to owner specifications.
If you have a high energy dog, you might want to use the adult dog food calculator with an energy level of Active to help you estimate how much to feed your dog each day while they are boarded. You will need to know your dog’s ideal weight (what they should weigh) and the number of calories in your dog’s food. Note: The calculator provides estimates only. Always consult with your veterinarian for your dog’s feeding requirements. |
Medications and Supplements
We ask that you leave detailed instructions for medication; including medication name, dosage, times per day, and your veterinary information. This Medication Form is provided for your convenience. You may complete and email prior to your arrival or bring with you at check-in.
If you have a human aggressive dog that requires medication, we can administer medication as long as it can be added and will be consumed by the dog with its food. Otherwise, we suggest that you board your dog with their veterinarian.
If your dog requires ear/eye medication and will not cooperate, we will not force the administration of the medication for the safety of your dog and our employees.
