Check-In
When you arrive at Country K9, you may have a short wait as we do not have someone designated to only work the front desk. Depending on the tasks the staff are working on at the time, it may take a few minutes to safely secure the area and pets before they can assist you. Please keep in mind that we are the busiest first thing in the morning and in the late afternoon starting at 3:00 pm.
Please allow at least 15 minutes for check-in as we need to efficiently and thoroughly review all items brought with your pet. If you are a new customer, you may speed up the time it takes to check in by having your paperwork completed ahead of time: New Customer Packet. We recommend that you take your dog for a brief potty walk as soon as you get him/her out of your vehicle. The designated dog walk area is conveniently located next to the parking area along with a doggie waste station.
The following is a checklist of items that you may wish to bring when you board your pet(s). The items with an * are required:
Rabies - One or three year vaccine required
DPP/DHPP/DHLPP/DHLPPC - One or three year vaccine required
Bordetella (Kennel Cough) - Inject-able (requires booster 4 weeks later) or Intra-nasal once every 12 months (some veterinarians recommend
every 6 months)
Note: The Bordetella vaccine includes protection against the most common cause of kennel cough, the bacteria Bordetella bronchiseptica.
Although the vaccination is a great prevention, it does not cover all of the viruses and bacteria that can cause kennel cough. Just like
the human flu vaccine, the Bordetella vaccine does not prevent your dog from getting sick but will ensure that the duration and severity
of illness is dramatically reduced. Vaccines made to protect against bacteria are not as effective as vaccines that are made to protect
against viruses. Unfortunately, no amount of supervision, sanitation, or personal care can guarantee complete prevention of Kennel
Cough and we cannot guarantee that your pet will not pick something up while they are at the kennel, any more than the school your
child goes to, the office you work in, or the restaurant you eat at.
Cats:
Rabies - One or three year vaccine required
FVCRP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia) - One or three year vaccine required
FeLV (Feline Leukemia) - One year vaccine required or a negative Feline Leukemia test
Note: For the safety of our guests, any safety pins, bobby pins, metal twist ties, etc. will be removed from any items before being placed in the guests run/condo/suite.
Guests checking in exclusively for Spa services are requested to check in between 8:00 am and 9:00 am.

- Dog/Cat Food – In an effort to provide the best care for your pet, we suggest that you bring your pet’s food. This helps prevent any upset stomachs or food allergies because of a sudden change in diet. Please make sure that bring enough food for your pets entire stay and a little extra just in case you have to extend their stay. If you do not bring your pet’s food, we will feed our house food. This Feeding Form is provided for your convenience. You may complete and email prior to your arrival or bring with you at check-in. If you have a high energy dog, you might want to use the adult dog food calculator with an energy level of Active to help you estimate how much to feed your dog each day while they are boarded. You will need to know your dog’s ideal weight (what they should weigh) and the number of calories in your dog’s food. Note: The calculator provides estimates only. Always consult with your veterinarian for your dog’s feeding requirements.
- Medications/Vitamins/Supplements – Bring any medications that your pet(s) is currently taking, along with the instructions for administering the medication. This Medication Form is provided for your convenience. You may complete and email prior to your arrival or bring with you at check-in. If you have a human aggressive dog that requires medication, we can administer medication as long as it can be added and will be consumed by the dog with its food. Otherwise, we suggest that you board your dog with their veterinarian. If your dog requires ear/eye medication and will not cooperate, we will not force the administration of the medication for the safety of your dog and our employees.
- Toys – Durable and washable.
- Machine washable blanket/bedding – We provide bedding but if your pet has a favorite blanket/bed, you may bring it if you like. If you know that your dog likes to shred beds that contain stuffing, please refrain from bringing this type of bed. The fibers collect in the drains and cause clogs.
- T-shirt or something similar that smells like you/home.
- Treats - Please no rawhide bones.
- Pertinent Medical Information – Allergies, recent surgeries, recent injuries, etc.
- Miscellaneous Information – Finicky eater, escape artist, climber, dog aggressive, people aggressive, bed chewer, etc.
Note: For the safety of our guests, any safety pins, bobby pins, metal twist ties, etc. will be removed from any items before being placed in the guests run/condo/suite.

When you Get Home
Your dog may be a little hoarse due to communicating with other boarding guests. This temporary irritation should dissipate in 1-2 weeks.
When dogs are very excited they tend to drink large amounts of water very quickly which may cause them to vomit. Please pace your dog's water by giving them small amounts at a time or by giving them ice cubes for the first few hours at home.
Dogs can also develop loose bowels when they are excited as well. You can add canned pumpkin to your dogs food to help firm up his/her stool. Pureed canned pumpkin contains large amounts of fiber, Vitamins A and C, and beta carotene. The high amount of fiber is a natural binding complex that will absorb the excess liquid that is in the intestines.
If you did not bring your dogs food with you and they are experiencing a frothy and foamy vomit once they are home, they could have an upset stomach from the switch in diet. You can give your dogs stomach a reset by fasting your your adult dog for 12-24 hours after you notice any vomiting. At the end of the fast, you can feed a small bland diet that is 2/3 white rice and 1/3 boiled chicken breast. Feed another meal 4 hours later if the first is kept down and then continue with normal sized meals on the bland diet for the next couple of days. You should contact your veterinarian if you dog does not keep down the bland diet, as vomiting dehydrates the body.
Please call us after you pick up your pet if you have any question whatsoever.
