Vaccination Requirements
Vaccines are meant not only to protect the animal to which they were given, but to protect the rest of the population as well. The more vaccinated animals there are in a population, the less likely a disease will spread. No vaccine produces protection in 100% of the population to which it is given but they play an extraordinary role in disease prevention.
When a vaccinated animal still acquires the disease even though it was vaccinated against the disease, it is often referred to as vaccine failure. In the vast majority of cases, there was something wrong with the body's response to the vaccine. Some other causes of vaccine failure are improper vaccine handling and storage, improper administration, failure to boost regularly, poor health, stress, weak/compromised immune system and old age. Some vaccines are effective in almost all animals; others are not. One of the most effective vaccines, Canine Distemper, protects at least 90% of individuals to whom it is given. Vaccine for bacteria's like Bordetella and Leptospira are much less effective in protecting from the disease.
For the health and safety of our guests, all pets must have up-to-date records for all of the vaccinations Country K9 Pet Resort & Spa requires. If you are vaccinating your pet for the first time, please make sure that you allow adequate time to observe your pet for side effects prior to your arrival at our facility. We recommend that your pet be vaccinated at least 7 days prior to boarding.
Proof of vaccinations may be faxed to (540) 722-0189 prior to your arrival or you may bring them with you at check-in. Titers will be accepted with proper documentation from your veterinarian. It is your responsibility to make sure that your pet is up-to-date on the required vaccinations and to provide proof of vaccinations.

bronchiseptica. Although the vaccination is a great prevention, it does not cover all of the viruses and bacteria that can
cause kennel cough. Just like the human flu vaccine, the Bordetella vaccine does not prevent your dog from getting sick
but will ensure that the duration and severity of illness is dramatically reduced. Vaccines made to protect against bacteria
are not as effective as vaccines that are made to protect against viruses. Unfortunately, no amount of supervision, sanitation,
or personal care can guarantee complete prevention of Kennel Cough and we cannot guarantee that your pet will not pick
something up while they are at the kennel, any more than the school your child goes to, the office you work in, or the
restaurant you eat at.
